A few people were experiencing issues with the update to the FeedBurner plugin for WordPress, so I’ve revamped the way it does the redirection. If you’re experiencing any issues with the v2 plugin, deactivate your current plugin, download the latest version, upload the new file, reactivate the plugin, and walk through the setup procedure again.
I thought now would be a good time to explain what this plugin actually does. Whether you’re using it for WordPress 1.5 or 2.0, the basic concept is the same. It’s all slight of hand using your .htaccess file. First, we create a redirection from a random /feed_XXXXX url to your real site feed. The second step involves redirecting any traffic that would normally go to your feed (any /feed/rss2, /?feed=atom, etc.) to your FeedBurner url. Thats it. No files are created, no directories added… it’s all about redirection. Magic.

I just started using WP and have a quick question regarding your Feedburner Plugin. Whenever I try to validate my feed through Feedburner, I get a 404 error. The source feed that is generated on the WP Options > Feedburner page doesn’t exist on the server side. Am I missing something?

i just found out about this plugin last week when a friend of mine asked me about feedburner. i decided to try it out on my wp2.0 installation. i got the 404 errors like a lot of other people. tonight i downloaded this updated version, followed the directions included, and it works like a charm!

Also, I think that it’s interesting to note that with the latest version, you don’t technically need the special URL for FeedBurner. It does the redirection based on the FeedBurner User Agent. Pretty cool.
I really like the plugin, but I noticed that when things access:
http://brainwagon.org/feed/rss2
It gets redirected to my feedburner feed, but if they access (as many of them do)
http://brainwagon.org/feed/rss2/
(note the trailing slash) they are not redirected. Is this something peculiar to me, or is this a problem?
I am possibly having a few problems.
I am trying to diagnose a problem with my feed (according to Bloglines and FeedBulletin) but when I go to the plugin-generated URL for the feed in Firefox, I don’t see the raw RSS XML, rather I get what I would see if I navigate to http://www.thenewsbeforethenews.com

I’m using the latest version (2.02) on a Wordpress blog sitting in a sub-directory. When I activate the plugin and test the URL, I’m redirected to the wwwroot/feed/, which doesn’t exist.
Am I missing something?
