On Becoming a Dad
Sunday, May 28th, I became a father. At 3:06am we welcomed Jackson Stephen Smith into our family. Yes, he’s a little ahead of schedule, but doing very well and is in excellent care.
He’ll be at the hospital for a few weeks as he matures, and we are anxious to get the little guy home.
My time is almost completely taken up by work at the office, and being at the hospital to visit, so posting around here might become even more infrequent than it already is. For those interested in updates on Jackson, I’ll be posting his daily status at jackson.orderedlist.com for family, friends, and kind strangers. Photos will come by way of Flickr.

Johanna: He wasn’t due until August 8, so he’s a good 10 weeks early. However, the doctors and nurses are very pleased that he’s doing so well, and are very happy with his progress.

Cute little guy!
Welcome to the Brotherhood of Fatherhood. Did that make sense? Anyways, take lots of naps and here’s a hint. Take the baby to the mall, letting your wife sleep. It’s better to do that during the day then have baby in your arms at night!

Congrats Steve, it’s definately a journey.
I’m the father of two young sons and I have a third child on the way due in Jan 07. It’s the most important thing you’ll ever do in your life, believe that.
They (children) are a special gift and each day will be a learning experience as well as wonderful.
