FeedBurner Plugin v2.1 Released
After a few successful rounds of beta testing, the new WordPress FeedBurner Plugin v2.1 is officially released. Thanks to the beta testers, and to the guys over at FeedBurner. They’ve been a great help through the process.
If you’re using the plugin now and it’s working for you, you don’t need to upgrade unless you want the added functionality of optionally forwarding your main comments feed as well.
For those who have previously had trouble with the plugin, or just couldn’t use it because they couldn’t use .htaccess, this new version should do the trick. It now handles all the logic and redirection inside the WordPress code, so no need for any external technology.
So go ahead and download it. As always, let me know if you find any issues. Enjoy.

Wow! worked liked a dream. I’m relatively new to blogging and this task has had me going for 3 days. I can now get on with creating my site without having to worry too much about the boring stuff.
Thanks a million :-)

It works great, Steve. Good job. Tnx u so much!

Thanks for this new version! I did not use the old one, since it required other tweakings, at least for my case. But this one is easy, thank you a bunch!

Amazing job. Though I blogged about this plugin a few months back, I wished so much that you could simplify the usage and get rid of the htaccess tweaks and all. It works so well now. Thanks a lot.

Thank you so much for this plug-in! I have been avoiding feedburner, because I don’t like the idea of sending subscribers away to a foreign website. This plug-in allows me to keep control of my feeds, and makes it a snap to set up. Thank you so much.

I’m using the 2.1 Alpha and thought I’d let you know that the plugin doesn’t work.
It activates fine, but on going to the Options -> FeedBurner I get the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: generate_page_rewrite_rules() in /home/jmaskell/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ol_feedburner.php on line 43

It works flawlessly, thank you.

I’m having some issue with this plugin and Technorati not indexed my feed. When I redirect to Feedburner, Technorati no longer sees my blog. Can you shed some light on this situation?

Hi,
This is what I get when I click on your feed.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/.ness/orderedlist/orderedlist.com/wp-content/cache/d276c892c83825951b904b40ec60e212.php on line 1

Works like a charm!
I’m using it on my site now :)

Great work Steve.

James: I’ve sent you a new version to test. Let me know if it works for you.
Joel: Not really sure what could be happening. Sounds like a Technorati issue, as I haven’t heard of this before, even with any version of the plugin.
Mike: Must be an issue with the caching plugin I’m using. I’m probably going to disable it soon as it has some weird quirks like that. Thanks for pointing it out.
Everyone Else: Glad you like it.

I’ve been playing with this plugin and have 1 major issue. When I disable it, it still redirects my feeds to feedburner. I’ve tried updating the permalinks but nothing changes. What can I do?
September 11th, 2006
Alex: Are you referring to the old version or the new version? If you had used the old version, make sure there’s nothing extra in your .htaccess file. If it’s the new version, well that’s just weird.

Well done Steve, keep up the good work mister.

Hi Steve: First of all, verys lick program/design. Well done.
It doesn’t seem to work for me, however. I’ve installed in on WP2.0.4, Activated the plug-in, and the program gives me no complaints. Theoretically it should work, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything at all. Odd?

Adam: Have you setup your feed info on the Options page?
September 12th, 2006
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, though I’m not 100% sure I did it correctly. I put in:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/theoherns/MVpe
It didn’t work, so I tried:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/theoherns/
Neither seems to work :/
September 12th, 2006
Adam: http://feeds.feedburner.com/theoherns/MVpe is a valid feed at least. I assume you have FeedBurner pointing to your /feed/ and it’s reading properly. If that’s the case, right now when I go to your site feed, I’m redirected to http://feeds.feedburner.com/theoherns/ which is getting an error from FeedBurner. Is that a real FeedBurner feed?
September 12th, 2006
Ah, I think you just clarified my misunderstanding: I didn’t understand that the plugin only redirects FEED traffic (ie from any RSS reader), NOT traffice via HTTP. Sorry for my ignorance!
I put it back to http://feeds.feedburner.com/theoherns/MVpe, which should be valid. Thanks again!

THANK YOU!!! It works, it’s a snap to install, AND it leaves my posts’ comment feeds alone.

Hello Steve,
I got the same problem like James, running an alpha version of wp. If you like to, you can count me in as a 2nd beta tester.

I really love this plugin, nice work of course.

Nice Work, but it didn`t work with WP 1.5 correct, all author and categorie feeds are also redirected to the main feed.
The downgrad didn`t work too.
You must clean the db before you can make a clean reinstall of the old one.

Hi Again Steve..
Sorry, I forgot to thank you for your plugin in my last post. Thank you!
BTW.. could you look at this link to one of my posts?
http://guzzothecontrarian.com/?p=46
The “all posts” feed and the “all comments” feed work just fine. However, the “Comments to this post” feed doesn’t forward to FeedBurner. Is this a glitch in your plugin, or a glitch in me? :-)

Great, feedburner can count subscribers correctly now. HTTP 307 Temporary Redirect is so good.
September 14th, 2006
Hi – I think I messed up my installation.
Was using old version, which had http://michaelzimmer.org/feedburner_773337/ being redirected to http://feeds.feedburner.com/michaelzimmer/.
I’ve upgraded, but am unsure as to what I need to re-configure.
On the plugin opion I have field #2 populated by http://feeds.feedburner.com/michaelzimmer/
But on Feedburner’s site, my feed setup still has the “original” feed as http://michaelzimmer.org/feedburner_773337/.
Do I need to change that? Thanks in advance…

Hi Steve,
I’m using the 2.1 alpha-3 and I get the same error message as James mentioned: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: generate_page_rewrite_rules() in /home/.finale/iqwolfa/iqwolf.org/wp-content/plugins/ol_feedburner.php on line 43
Could you send me a test version too?
Thanks.
September 16th, 2006
Thanks! The simpler the better. Why 307 redirect and not 302?
Conn Stell.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the plugin. I seem to be having a slight problem. While feed URLs like http://sandeep.weblogs.us/wp-rss.php are properly redirected to FeedBurner, rss2.xml is not. This is the feed that many have subscribed to on Bloglines. In the function ol_check_url, I added another case to handle this, but it didn’t work.
What could be the problem?
Thanks! Sandeep

Another 2.1-alpha user here, if you need more testers send one my way.

Hi Steve, I am sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could help me. I am having a problem getting my feeds to work properly. I receive the following error message:
This feed does not validate. line 2, column 0: XML parsing error: :2:0: xml declaration not at start of external entity
Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Than you!
September 19th, 2006
I am having the same problem I had with the old one, which is that category feeds do not seem to work. I just get the xml when I try to load the feed. You can see what happens at http://www.tipclique.com/. The problematic feed links are located to the left of the graphic design, and web development tutorial categories. I have added all the categories to feedburner just to make clear that is not the problem.

Cool plugin, thank you for the developing and sharing it with us no techies.
