Download Counter Update
Mint 1.2 is out with a brand new plugin architecture, so here’s the update for the Download Counter Pepper. Same simple functionality, and easy tracking of both click and ‘Save As’ downloads. This time, it plays nice with Session tracker by Beau Collins, a useful tool to see the path your visitors take through your site.

Great work. I just realized how much I really depend on this pepper after I upgraded to 1.2 and was without it for a week. ;-)

Hi,
Love your pepper but there is one thing that make me uninstall it. I use .htaccess file to protect all of my file on my domain from hotlink. However, using the download counter pepper, this technique will no longer work as all files are now linked as /dl=..., which is understood by .htaccess settings as “linking within my domain” and thus allow the link, even if the link is post somewhere else…
I think it is possible to modify the pepper to check also the referrer in advance (and thus effectively forbid hotlinks). I don’t have time right now to do any modify, so… can you?
Thanks. (I disable the pepper until there is some solution for this problem ;) )
